A. Why is it important for disposable masks to be TYPE II?

Because they are medical masks with BFE 98% (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency). In other words, they show 98% efficiency in filtering bacteria and include three protective layers (EN14683).

B. What is the difference between the TYPE II mask and the TYPE I, FFP2 and N95 masks?

TYPE I, FFP2 and N95 masks have a much lower BFE than TYPE II, i.e a lower percentage of bacterial filtration. They are not made based on the shape of the face and therefore do not fit well, while their lifespan ranges from just 3 hours to a maximum of 8 hours.

C. How can I be sure that I am buying a mask that meets the minimum standards for my protection?

In order for the masks to meet the minimum required specifications under European Legislation, they must have a CE MARK certificate according to Directive 93/42 / EEC and the product must be registered in the register of the National Medicines Agency (EOF).
