Our R&D department develops diagnostic reagents for various fields of clinical diagnosis such as clinical chemistry, immunochemistry, point of care testing and molecular diagnostics. Our R&D activities and accomplishments are as follows:
Clinical chemistry reagents for automated analyzers
A complete menu (>45) of chemistry reagents have been developed. They are produced in liquid form, they present excellent performance characteristics and analytical protocols are available for a number of commercially available analyzers. We have focused on specific, hard-to-find parameters such as aldolase, 5'-nucleotidase, G6PDH, Lactate etc. that are currently included among our products list.
Homogenous immunoassay reagents for specific proteins for automated analyzers
One of the largest menus of immunochemistry reagents for the determination of more than 35 specific proteins have been developed, based on the specific antigen - antibody reaction. The reaction can be measured by turbidimetry on any automated chemistry analyzer. Where high sensitivity is required, latex-enhanced tests have been developed for a number of parameters. We use covalent binding of antibodies to latex particles, a technology far superior to adsorption currently used by most manufacturers.
Heterogeneous immunoassay reagents
Our R&D dept. has been involved in an EU project for the development of immunoassay reagents. Reagents for Ferritin, Folic acid, Vitamin B12, Troponin I, CK-MB and Myoglobin have been developed. In all tests magnetic beads are used for the separation step and chemiluminescence is the detection method.
Antibody production and processing
We have developed technology to produce our own antibodies, as raw materials for a number of tests. We recently have introduced Fab' fragment technology to minimize non-specific binding in our Ferritin reagent.
